Beth Hanson
Secretary
Beth became Secretary of the Dry Canyon Arts Association (DCAA) in January 2024. She recalls being immediately drawn to DCAA because of its active board and extensive offerings that help artists showcase and sell their work.
Beth manages a range of organizational responsibilities crucial to the nonprofit’s success. She keeps detailed meeting minutes, organizes administrative records, and maintains legal corporate records for the association’s nonprofit status. Notably, Beth spearheaded DCAA’s application for Redmond Economic Development Inc.’s 2024 Thrive Award which recognized the association’s significant economic and cultural impact on the community. Beth says the process required a significant collective effort from the board—combining data, endorsements, and the language needed to convey DCAA’s far-reaching impact.
Before joining DCAA’s leadership, Beth’s career included other creative and community-focused efforts: co-founding a travel business in France with her husband, Jack, which she retired from in 2017, designing living spaces through home remodeling and co-founding Central Oregon’s Center for Compassionate Living.
Beth’s connection to art initially grew from a love of collecting diverse works of art. In 2018, she began creating her own work, enrolling in classes to develop her skills where she discovered mixed-media portraits combining acrylic paint and collage for layered, colorful effects. Learning new skills keeps her fully engaged in making art focusing on people, places and things she loves.
Looking ahead, Beth envisions DCAA expanding its reach and influence. Together with DCAA’s board and membership, she dreams of a dedicated art center in Redmond—a space with studios, classrooms, and galleries where artists can create and connect. Such a center, she believes, would cement the city’s reputation as a vibrant hub for the arts.
Beth encourages both emerging artists and art lovers alike with advice that is simple but powerful: “Believe in yourself, keep learning, and join a community like DCAA where you can grow.”
